AmeriStop was founded in 1967. From 1967 to 2000 AmeriStop retail locations were primarily franchisee owned locations with Ohio Valley, AFM as the franchisor. Through acquisitions, the AmeriStop store count has grown from 113 locations in 2000 to 140 in 2004. There are currently 55 company owned locations and 85 franchise owned. AmeriStop operates three different retail formats under the banners of AmeriStop Market, AmeriStop Express, and AmeriStop Express Drive-Thru.
